In the 1920s and 30s spanking was seldom administered on the spur of the moment. There was a strict punishment ritual... Corner time to contemplate the crime and subsequent punishment... The actual spanking, underpants up or down, depending on the severity of the offence... or the attitude of the spanker... Some parents were more puritanical than others... After the spanking the boy or girl would be requested to apologise for their offence. This done, they'd be sent back to the corner until they were told they could go.
Before the anti-spank zealots start sending me dissaproving posts... This is a reconstruction of vintage discipline in a vintage home in the mid 1920s and has nothing what so ever to do with current enlightened attitudes to parental discipline.
