DROP SEAT UNDERPANTS 1928 by ArtBoy62 DROP SEAT UNDERPANTS 1928 by ArtBoy62
This kind of underwear was worn by vintage boys and girls. It meant that parents who were reluctant to make their kids take down, or completely remove their undies, for reasons of modesty...

Some would say, 'prudery.'

Could still administer a bare bottomed spanking to fit the severity of the offence...

In this case... Bare faced lying.

I've seen them in movies and in vintage art and photos, but never in real life...

Maybe mothers stopped buying them when Y Fronts and boxer briefs became popular...

Or maybe manufacturer's deemed them old fashioned, and therefore not a good sales line.

One mother I knew was into hand made clothes and she showed me a vintage boys underpants patterns identical to the ones in my artwork. Not sure if she made them for her three naughty sons, my good palls...

If she did they kept it a dark secret.

Pajamas and I think even some overalls featured dropseats. A classic spanking scene sometimes includes them since they're convenient for the purpose.

Maybe someone should do a line in these undies... Not me, I just want to draw and paint these days.

Hmmmm, a bare-assed blistering in response to bare-faced lying--that makes perfect sense to me!

While a 'trap door' seat flap might arguably make sense for eliminatory purposes in "Doctor Denton" pajamas or full-sized woolen underwear, the only obvious reason for having one in a child's normal underpants would be for receiving 'semi-modest' bare-bottom spankings...

I agree... I think that was the case too.

In the US they manufactured little and teen girls underpants with the brand name...

'Spanky Pants'

There was an ad campaign in the 60s I think... I grabbed two actual ads on line years ago... have no idea where they are now.

If anybody has more info about these undies... If they were popular, if there was a TV ad etc... Just post the links and text here.

Currently there are women's pantyhose with the brand name "Spanx," and sex shops sell lightweight seatless men's briefs labeled as "Spank Me" underwear. ("For the naughty boy who needs discipline," it reads on the box.)

The teenaged boy in the drawing looks embarrassed yet reluctantly compliant--arguing would undoubtedly just make his punishment longer...
